How can a person just cease to exist?

An acquaintance of mine died of cancer this week -- a very dear man I worked with. He was one of the good ones.

I am fortunate to have had the opportunity to know someone so kind, generous and humble, who was a shining example that one does not need to compromise those noble traits in order to be successful.

So today I toast to you, Jay. And to the mysterious and precious cycle of life.
