Comedy, Horror or Documentary?
If you haven't yet, you simply must see the film Borat. It could fit into any of these classifications, because I've never been so scared while also laughing so hard at the brutal truth in the world!
We went with our friends Sean and Julia (or John and Shoolia as I sometimes catch myself saying). This is the first movie Sean had wanted to see in some time, so after a yummy dinner at the Mustard Seed in Mt. Pleasant (you've gotta have their tomato bisque), and a detour into Barnes & Noble (Grand Central Station and ultra-happening teen pick-up joint on Friday nights) we headed over to the big shew.
I hunkered down in my seat, and gingerly pulled from my purse the coconut cake I bought from the restaurant "to go" as my deluxe movie snack (yum!). Frank threatened to call security on me, but I hushed him with a mouthful of icing. The lights dimmed and after some promising trailers, the journey began!
I had very little knowledge or preconceived notion of what the film was really about, and my expectations were kind of low based on the previews. But boy, was I was pleasantly surprised. All four of us were impressed, horrified, entertained, enlightened disturbed and stunned by the end of the movie. Later on, as we were trying to fall asleep, Frank and I found ourselves randomly giggling to ourselves well into the night as scenes kept flashing back into our heads.
So folks, if you want to see how much impact a low budget, high talent film can have, then run to the nearest movie theater now to catch Borat!
Still hiccuping,
Regina
